And these AI PMs are paid extremely well. Here’s the breakdown (with a few of the other top startups added):

This presents some incredibly interesting data that partially explains why companies are ranked where they are with respects to AI success.

1. The leaders - OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic - pay the most and get the best talent.

2. The big investors - Netflix, Apple, and Meta - pay the second most as they try to catch up.

3. Two big tech giants - Amazon and Nvidia - are leaders in cloud and GPUs, but traditionally pay less.

4. The B2B players - Microsoft, Cisco, ServiceNow, IBM, and Oracle - moving into AI pay much less.

We’ll revisit this pay in a year or two. I predict the bottom companies all move up very fast as they realize that you need to pay up for this scarce talent.
